The Maid Service      Commercial Cleaning Service

Insurance companies categorize cleaning contractors in 6 classes. You may find that your business fits into more than one of these groups. They are the residential maid service, landscape gardener, residential snow removal, office cleaners, commercial cleaner, and commercial snow removal.

As with any business the bottom line is a concern. We have seen premiums under $300 a year, keep in mind there is likely not enough coverage for most businesses at this minimal coverage. Many cleaning companies will find coverage at under $700 per year. For specific information on a policy that fits your needs, including Workers Compensation for Handymen please contact us at 607-843-8860 or email insurance@drickardinsurance.com.

The longer you have been in insured in business the better chance we have of building you a great package.

The Maid Service

Many maid services are single person operations that clean the interior of residences on a scheduled basis with some on call clean-ups throughout the year. If you think you fit in this class you might be surprised to find policies in the under $300 per year area. However, we strongly encourage you to get more than the smallest policy you can find for many reasons we are happy to discuss with you at insurance@drickardinsurance.com or 607-843-8860. Maid services with employees tend to start out around $600 annually.

NOTE: If you are a maid service that also removes snow insurance companies will classify your business as a snow removal business.

Commercial Cleaning Service

While a commercial cleaning service may be hired to care for some residential spaces it will primarily care for offices or commercial space such as retail. The amount of each type of cleaning you do will impact your insurance premiums. That is why it is a good idea to know what percentage of your sales comes from what type of cleaning. While there are some one person operations such as the floor stripper/sealer guy who pays only $700ish a year for insurance coverage, most commercial janitor cleaning contractor insurance policies will run more in the ball park of $1,200 annually.

If you mow lawns and take care of the lawns and gardens of your clients insurers will classify your business as a landscape gardener. However if you trim trees or dig deeper holes your business will be classified as excavation or tree trimming.
