Answer: All insurers are concerned with what recreational water you have on your premises. So, it is good to have a conversation about this before you buy your insurance policy, property, or pool.
If you take precautions to keep people safe it will greatly help your insurance company be comfortable with your pool. For in ground pools this includes a fence completely around the pool area accessible through self locking gates. For above ground pools you will need removable ladders that you actually remove or lock out accessibility. Decks should be completely fenced with self locking gates.
Diving boards, slides, swings, ropes, etc. will make it nearly impossible to get insurance, let alone finding insurance at a reasonable price.
Some companies charge more when you have a pool, dock, or slip.
It is best to contact us before you get your pool or property with a pool or recreational water so we work out the details with your insurer so there are no rude surprises.
