Tales Of Woe* *Unless you keep your agent and insurer informed. These are cautionary insurance tales of real or dramatizations of real life scenarios.
My Boyfriend Moved In I bought insurance with ______________________ in insurance company two years ago and paid my premiums on time every month. I have a perfect driving record and pay very little for insurance. I am a preferred customer my agent said. My boyfriend moved in 6 months ago and he drives my car as well as his own. I didn’t want to mess up my perfect insured status by adding him to my policy. He had his own insurance. Besides, in my opinion, it is not the insurance companies business what I do in my person life. So, anyway, my boyfriend crashed my car into the church bus and hurt the nuns and orphans seriously. The insurance company paid nothing and now I am being sued. Why? Why? Answer: Most auto insurance policy contain language that the insured has a Duty To Report Change. Therefore, if a customer has someone move into their home and is driving the insured vehicle, and doesn’t report them as an additional driver on their policy, and the new resident is involved in an accident resulting in a claim, the insurer may deny the claim. 607 843 8860 or insurance@drickardinsurance.com
