Frequently Asked Questions

What insurance do I need for my four-family home that I own and live in?

Answer: A simple question with a complicated answer. Probably contacting us to discuss what option will fit you best.

If you own the home in your personal name, the preferred way of having the insurance you need for a 3 or 4 family home that is owner occupied is a homeowner’s insurance policy. Very few insurance companies offer this product. However, we represent several that still are happy to provide this insurance. Why is this a good idea? We will be happy to tell you, please give us a call at 607-843-8860.

If the home is owned by an entity like an LLC, trust, or corporation, a landlord or dwelling policy will be the way the building and premises liability is covered. You will need a separate home renter’s insurance policy to cover your personal contents and liability.

There are other considerations too, such as life use with the property deed in another name. We can help navigate these challenges also.
