The Beauty of the Fall Season
Can Mask Dangers

Autumn is a beautiful time of year. Its an opportunity to enjoy the brisk outdoors and the magnificent colors of the foliage in most parts of the country. But looks can be deceiving and fall brings unique dangers for drivers.

Unpredictable Weather Driving Life Hacks

Fall weather can be unpredictable. A sunny and cool afternoon can turn rainy and cold in minutes. The rainfall is often so intense you can find yourself with a very limited field of vision. Road conditions can deteriorate as fast as the rain is falling. The first few minutes of rain on dry pavement can make the roads as slippery as ice, and not only can spray from other vehicles block your vision, rapidly dropping temperatures can cause frost to accumulate on roads, bridges, overpasses and your vehicle, compounding the slippery conditions. Heavy rains often create pools of water and driving through them can compromise driving control, making hydroplaning is a dangerous possibility. When falling leaves are wet, they can be as treacherous as ice and they can obscure potholes, curbs and other road hazards. Fog can limit not only your driving visibility, but also the perception of distance. Sun glare is especially bright this time of year, and can play optical tricks on even the most attentive drivers. Glare is so bright and direct in the early morning and late afternoon hours, you can literally be blinded by the sun. In heavy traffic, it could lead to multiple rear-end collisions.
