Why do you need insurance if you are repairing appliances? Because if something goes wrong during the repair or after the repair is done and someone is injured or property is damaged during or from your work it is likely you will be sued for damages.
Is there a demand for insurance? Everyone that you are doing may be requesting verification of your insurance. Manufactures or retailers hire service repair contractors to independently be the fulfillment contractor for on-site service under warranty. Others do out of warranty repair work.
We may be able to help:
- Electrical Household Appliance Installation/Repair
- Gas Household Appliance Installation/Repair
Note: Not all options are available from every insurer. How much will appliance repair contractors’ insurance cost? Well, that varies greatly. We have seen premiums well below $1,000 a year. Keep in mind there is likely not enough coverage for most businesses at this minimal coverage. For specific information on policies that fit your needs, including Commercial General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers Compensation, and NYS DBL and PFL please contact us at 607-843-8860 or email insurance@drickardinsurance.com.
Hint: The longer you have been in business and insured the better opportunity you have for the best insurance pricing. So keep your insurance even during your off-season. If You Get A Helper Or Employees:
Many artisan contractors work by themselves, or with an occasional helper, handling the type of repair service. To add an occasional helper will usually not double the cost of your liability insurance, but you will need workers compensation DBL/PFL insurance. We are happy to discuss with you your individual needs at insurance@drickardinsurance.com or 607-843-8860.
Note: Your helpers and "independent contractors" may be considered employees by law. NYS has specific rules for what is an employee and what is an independent contractor, see the independent contractor dropdown on this page. If the helper, independent, sub-contractor that works for you does not have their own insurance you may need to cover them under your general liability, workers compensation and NYS DBL/PFL policies. Sole Proprietor With No Employees That Needs Works Compensation
In addition to the Commercial Package Policies discussed earlier, one man operations are being forced to buy a workers compensation policy. We can arrange coverage for a sole proprietor who does all of the work himself with, no employees or helpers, to acquire "if any" Workers Compensation (WC) policy that the owner excludes himself on. (We don't think a workers compensation policy that excludes the owner is in his best interests.) The total cost of the WC package has been in the $3,000 a year area. Actual premiums depend upon coverage specific case by case underwriting. We are happy to discuss customized insurance options with you at insurance@drickardinsurance.com or 607-843-8860.
